Today is the day that Husband finally was able to put aside the crutches now that he’s fully completed the Consolidation phase of the limb lengthening done on his legs.

He lost a lot of height when surgery was done to save his legs after he was hit by a car in 1987. He went from 6’1 to 5’4. But, with modern techniques, he got back what was lost and actually a bit more as he’s just a hair under 6’3 now. It’s been interesting and for such a major change, it’s really simple. The Consolidation phase was the time to let the new bone fully mature and become solid bone.

As was expected, the procedure eliminated the chronic pain and such he’d been experiencing for 25 years, and as far as I’m concerned, that is the true benefit–the height is just a nice bonus. 🙂
